Jack died really? I won’t even bother to watch the finale, not worth watching. The show was really dull and uninteresting this season. I missed Jack on the show. Season 1 was the best – my suggestion to you would be for Elizabeth to fall in love with a better looking more shivorous character than Daniel.

Hallmark WCTH writers/producers completely underestimated the absolute pivotal love story of Jack and Elizabeth!! It WAS the show and the only constant was their love story which made you want to watch. Killing off the hero or heroine from any show like this is suicide and in addition, ending the love story this way is going to be almost impossible to overcome for viewers to continue watching. As much as Daniel Lissing and Erin Krakow were made for each other on screen, recasting would have been a better decision. The chemistry was dynamic and would never be replicated, although if they found someone exceptional overtime the show would have recovered. Daniel was really the star in the show along with Erin, what a tough blow for Hallmark. He is very gifted and talented, I guess he forsees a big future for himself. For me I will not continue watching as it already started to wane when Jack was not in episodes, I will always be looking for Mountie Jack to show up on his horse, but he never will again….

I believe trying to recast the role of Jack would not have worked. As Lori Loughlin stated during the Facebook Live, “How can you recast the role?…The chemistry that these two have… the writers just didn’t feel like that was possible.” If they had attempted to have another actor play Jack, I can only imagine the inevitable comparison there would be to Daniel Lissing- just too big a pair of boots to fill, y’know? It sounds to me that Hallmark Channel, the producers, and writers considered all the options and Jack’s death was the only one that would work. It is incredibly sad and I must admit I’ve shed quite a few tears over the loss of Jack and the future Elizabeth & Jack storylines. But, I am so curious to see where the writers will take us in season 6- Jack & Elizabeth’s baby, Rosemary & Lee, the railroad in Hope Valley, Henry Gowen’s possible redemption, etc. And somewhere down the road, Elizabeth might open her heart again to love, as Jack told her in his letter. There are so many more stories still to tell! 😊❤️

I sat and cried. Full of anger at the suddenness of Jacks departure. Grateful to hear from Lori (Abigail) re Facebook. Heart went out to Erin. I could hardly stomach Jacks “personal reasons” excuse. Jack made his choice as we all have opportunity to do. I applaud Erin and all the other great actors in the finale. She had that connection that we all loved and felt that’s why the finale was incredibly heart felt. To lessen the pain I researched some of Daniel’s other work and i personally will never watch. He’s lost a fan. I trust in time he will regret his decision. I have reconsidered my decision. I want and WILL support all the remaining wcth actors. I love ALL the children and I’m going to give Season 6 a chance. Look forward to the Christmas special. God bless WCTH!

This was insane. Seriously man, it’s like killing “The Force” in the Star Wars movies.
It’s like killing Frodo and Sam just before they reach the Mt Doom.

Dissapointment and sadness that the character of Jack has been written out the show. 5 seasons we waited for their marriage and their life journey to start and you pulled the rug out from under us!!! We only had one episode after their marriage showing them together and off Jack went again. Shame on you Hallmark!!! That is why I watch your station and pay the premium for it…happy endings!!! You didn’t even follow the books. How could Janette Oaks allow this!!?? When calls the heart was Elizabeth’s and Jack’s story and you killed it. Not interested in next year and will cancel my subscription.

Those of us who have lost husbands, fathers, sons and brother live with grief everyday. As the show state We all grieve in different ways. We see the World news everyday and need to find comfort in a family appropriate tv. We watch Hallmark with 4 generations all knowing that we can escape the grief and sorrow briefly. What a great disappointment When Calls The Heart was Sundat night. I will never depend on Hallmark to lift our daily burden. Four generations are now lost to you. So grieve for us Hallmark brand. Never again will we watch your channels, buy your cards, or display your trinkets. There was another to write out Mountie Jack.

  • Now that jack was killed off the show my sister and I will no longer watch. Do all of us a favor, and make it a mistaken id and bring him back in season 6. I fear leaving the fans like this there rating will drop off.

I guess I am done with this show now that Daniel lissing left the show and jack died this Sunday. Elizabeth and Jack ARE the show.
I am one of 4 of us that are done watching When Calls the Heart after the finale next Sunday if Jack did die.

I agree, if Jack dies, I will not watch When Calls the Heart anymore. I watch Hallmark for happy endings not sad😔😔😔😔!

I know all of us Hearties have so many concerns & questions! We’ve been assured that the answers to our burning questions will be answered in the season finale this Sunday night and on Monday in the first-ever, post-season finale Facebook Live with Brian Bird, Lori Loughlin, Erin Krakow, and Daniel Lissing on the Hallmark Channel USA Facebook page at 6PM Eastern/5PM Central/4PM Mountain/3PM Pacific.

I hope it ends differently. I love this series but wish it lasted longer. I just really get into the characters and oops it’s over. Not sure if I’ll watch it Jack dies…

A year or so ago, I watched seasons 1 and 2. This week I started to rewatch them as I have Netflix and want to binge watch through season 4. I was surprised where season 1 started as it didn’t seem to be the beginning. I had thought the series started with Elizabeth in her home and getting ready to move to Coal Valley and taking a stagecoach to the town. Am I correct? Also, I love Elizabeth’s clothes but would someone living in that area in that time period have a different outfit for every day? Also, where would she keep all those clothes as they did not have large closets like we do now? Thanks

Have you seen the “When Calls the Heart” movie that was shown in the fall of 2013? It is kind of a prequel to the TV series, though not exactly. It does show Elizabeth Thatcher at her home in Hamilton as she reads about her Aunt Elizabeth working as a teacher on the frontier. I really liked it! You can find it at Christian book & movie sellers and perhaps at your local library.

It is so sad that Jack’s beautiful, wonderful dog, Rip, has died. Jack should get a new dog. It adds to the show.

I love this show so much! It is what tv needs now, more than ever!
