When Calls the Heart

If you haven’t already, please join our When Calls the Heart Hearties Facebook Group

It is a place where adoring fans of Hallmark Channel’s original new series, When Calls The Heart, can gather and talk about our favorite show staring Erin Krakow, Pascale Hutton, Kavan Smith, Jack Wagner. Chris McNally, Kevin McGarry, and a full stellar cast. It is based on the Canadian West series from Janette Oke and directed by Michael Landon Jr and Brian Bird. This series has “called” and captured the hearts of many. Some of us like to call it “Love Comes Softly meets Little House on the Prairie.” It’s that kind of chaste romance combined with touching, uplifting family drama and reminders of the great virtues sadly missing on today’s TV.

Love the show, and the family values. Working together with faith, family, friends. community. Life is not easy,
and bad things happen, but we can choose our reactions and choose to be happy. The writing and acting, all
of the behind the scenes people who put the show together are excellent. Kudos to all. Actors leave. Decisions must be made. It was handled beautifully. Love the program, even though I shed many tears during the finale episode. Want to get a passport, just so I can visit the set!. Nothing negative from me, regarding the series. So hsppy it is on the air. Thank you all, and looking forward to the new season.

I am still reeling over the loss of Mountie Jack…. Feeling angry, sad, and shocked all at once. I think not watching anymore would do an incredible disservice to Erin Krakow… Daniel was not the whole show, and Erin has chosen to go on in spite of the loss. We owe it to her to give the show a chance. She is a fabulous actress. If I could do anything to change what has happened here, I certainly would. I in no way accept the way the writers chose to handle Dan Lissings departure. I would have gladly settled for a replacement , perhaps leaving the door open for Daniel to return at some point. They left no hope, therefore not living up to the name of Hope Valley, where there are far too many widow’s already. Many of us tune in for the happily ever after. The decision to kill the character of Jack, was a gamble with many of our hearts and emotions that I believe will take a toll on the show’s ratings. I don’t know about anyone else, but I have never been so affected by a story coming to an end. I find myself re creating an ending in my mind to help deal with it! Still have a glimmer of hope for the miraculous resurrection of Mountie Jack and a return to Hope Valley and his family.

Thank you for this heart felt post, I too have had a hard time with the way this unfolded. I agree that Erin deserves our support as well as other cast members, but like you said I have never been so affected by a story coming to an end as it did. I don’t understand if Daniel Lissing is going to be apart of the Hallmark family and make other movies why leave the best! Daniel did do a Christmas move it was good, although my 11 year grandson didn’t like Erin not being the girl in the movie, it still was good, which proved he
still could do both very strange! Hoping for a better 2019 show.

I could not have said it better. I completely agree with you.

We wish Daniel the best. He & Erin made the show our tv highlight of the week. Without him though, I don’t look for us to watch again. It was a great run.

If i can comment I felt the same way😪 I went through a Divorce from the love of my life it was the most difficult thing I’ve had to walk through so when I find a family show that shows that special love with two special people then see it come to an end it is & in this case heart breaking😢 Many shows have ended Sad I did not see it coming from Hallmark When calls the Heart .💔 I just don’t know if I can watch it only time will tell… I AM A HALLMARK FAN ALL THE WAY!!!💞 AND WHAT JACK & ELIZABETH HAD ON THE SHOW IT MADE TRUE LOVE SEEM POSSIBLE & SO SPECIAL😢 NOW IT’S GONE U JUST DON’T SEE THAT PURE LOVE ON TV ANYMORE AND MY FAMILY & I LOOKED SO FORWARD TO WATHCING THAT EVERY WEEK GOD BLESS U ALL AT HALLMARK & GOD BLESS U DANIEL ON UR NEW ADVENTURES U ALL WILL BE IN MY PRAYERS🙏

I so understand where you are coming from. I wish we could have had a different ending but Erin and Lori have also done a awesome job. Elizabeth
said in the classroom that even though there is sadness we will forever remember the joy and the love of these two characters. I think it is the times in which we are living that makes us buy into such great programs and when the character are soooooo believeable that only reenforces how great the acting and the people within the organization really are. Dan it has been an honor to support you and watch this amazing show. Do us proud!

I was not able to watch the live Facebook interview so am really curious about what was said. That might have helped me decide if I’m watching next season or not. I love the show but Jack was one of the main reasons to watch. I do love Paul Green and Jack Wagner–but not enough to keep watching if Daniel Lissing is gone. And I do wish the show would depict how a real one room school was run–not all the children no matter their age or grade would be learning the same thing.

The Facebook Live with Lori Loughlin, Erin Krakow, Daniel Lissing, and Brian Bird is still available on Hallmark Channel USA’s Facebook Page. They leave the video up as a post. Just scroll down the page.

I enjoy this show and I’m not going anywhere. I look forward to what the future brings for all the characters on the show, and wish Daniel Lissing good luck in his new projects. I think they did this right. It would have been sad with Elizabeth putting her life on hold for a man who is “merely away” 100% of the time.
