‘When Calls The Heart’ Renewed For Season Three At Hallmark

After an extended delay, Hallmark Channel has formally pulled the trigger on a third season of period drama When Calls The Heart.

The network has ordered ten hour-long episodes for the show’s third season, the first two of which will be previewed as a two-hour movie this Christmas, ahead of the season three premiere in February.

Notably, the order for season three is up on the seven episodes that comprised the show’s second season. The reason for the delayed renewal is not immediately clear, though there had been rumours circling that Hallmark was considering shifting WCTH to a TV movie format, as they did for Signed, Sealed. Delivered.

“‘When Calls The Heart’ has a passionate loyal fan base in the television landscape and their devotion to the captivating storylines and characters has made this series grow with outstanding ratings and top social media engagement,” said Michelle Vicary, Crown Media’s Executive Vice President of Programming. “We are incredibly proud of the series’ success and look forward to bringing families back together on Sunday nights in its new day and time period.”
