When Calls the Heart attracts devoted fan base

They are called Hearties.

Numbered in the tens of thousands, they are united in their love for an earnest Vancouver-shot television series When Calls the Heart, about a young teacher’s cautious relationship with an RCMP officer in early 20th Century small-town Canada.

There are at least 30,000 of them who congregate on the group’s Facebook page alone, where they discuss every gentle twist and turn on with a devotion usually reserved for Game of Thrones devotees.

“We never in a million years expected the fan base to grow in the way that it has,” says Erin Krakow, who plays lead Elizabeth Thatcher in the series. “They are fans of When Calls the Heart who are . . .

    The story lines are ones that we deal with in the 21st century. We love the way the characters interact with each other as well as the Hearties. Great writing. Wonderful actors. Beautiful country. Truth is spoken. Great family viewing. What is there not to love about When Calls the Heart. Waiting for S4.
