FAQs

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

1. Episode Viewer Ratings: When the previous episode’s ratings are in, Brian Bird will share them. Some weeks take longer than others due to the network counting DVR #s.

2. Watching LIVE is best for ratings (ratings = advertisers = funding = renewals) but yes, DVR re-watches and purchasing from #4 below also count.

3. If you missed previous episodes and do not have them available to you via On Demand from your cable provider, your best bet is to purchase (for a small fee) from iTunes (available next day), Amazon Instant Video (available next day), Google Play, or VuDu. If you do purchase from any of those sites, please make sure that you rate the show AND leave a review. AT THIS TIME, THESE 4 SITES ARE THE ONLY AUTHORIZED SITES FROM WHICH TO DOWNLOAD EPISODES/SEASONS. IF YOU ARE WATCHING VIA ANY OTHER ON-LINE VENUE AND IF YOU HAVE NOT PAID FOR IT, YOU ARE WATCHING PIRATED VERSIONS.

4. We have special events and contests running frequently on our Facebook group, so make sure you check the “Events” and “File” sections for the latest.

5. When tweeting, always include #Hearties, as this is the Hallmark Channel’s official hashtag for the series, and @hallmarkchannel in your tweets. We want #Hearties to trend on Twitter. All caps, all lower case, or a mash-up of the two –it does not matter.  @WCTH_TV is the official Twitter handle (address) & Instagram account for the show.

6.Emailing Hallmark Execs: Also in the “File” you will find information on Hallmark Executive email addresses (for sending letters and thank you’s) and Advertiser Addresses for the same.

7. Here’s the info on multiple TVs (courtesy of Linda Rudd) No, you could have 20 TVs in the same house tuned to the same show and it wouldn’t have any effect on the ratings unless you were a Nielsen household and your TV was being monitored. Even in Nielsen households I’m not sure if they monitor just one TV or if they monitor every TV the household has.

8. The Episodes are being usually released on DVD in pairs. In addition, complete season sets with bonus features are available. Check out Edify Films, Amazon, or your favorite Christian bookseller.

9. Live Show Tweeting with Cast & Crew: Hallmark Channel sends out the general invites. Sometimes all the principal cast and crew tweet live when the show airs in the Eastern/Central time zone and again later in the Pacific time zone. Sometimes they split it up. Sometimes they have other commitments or are in places where connectivity is a challenge. Many times they respond to “live show’ tweets in the days following as they move through their twitter feeds. Their Favorites, Replies and Retweets indicate they enjoy and are so appreciative of the #Hearties movement.

10. Does the story match up with the books? For those of you reading the Janette Oke Canadian West series and trying to follow along with the WCTH TV series, here is a quote from Brian Bird: “We worked with Janette Oke to expand the story-telling canvas for the series so that we could sustain possibly several seasons of the show. That’s why we added a multi-generational element and a new branch of the Thatcher family, along with a coal mining town. Pine Springs from the original novel is a farming town, which was very much like the world of the Love Come Softly series so we thought it would give us more layers for story-telling. Janette Oke loved what we came up with so much she decided to write additional novels to follow this branch of the family along with all the happenings in Coal Valley.”

11. Regarding a convention / meet & greet: #Hearties parties have been held all over the world for Hearties to meet up and share their love for all things Hope Valley. There have been three Hearties Family Reunions, which are like giant #Hearties parties held in the Vancouver area where there are fun events, time for Hearties to connect, Meet the Cast time, and tours of Hope Valley. The fourth Hearties Family Reunion (#HFR4) will be held in  Vancouver in October 2018. Stay tuned to the Hearties Facebook Page and Hearties HFR Twitter and Instagram accounts to keep up with all the fun.

My 12 year old daughter and I just started watching WCTH last month and we were hooked after the first episode! We are now up to season 4 episode 10. This season we’re curious as to what happened to Kay Montgomery and her family and why there’s no longer any mention of Elizabeth’s family? Last season ended with Julie running off with Tom, and now no mention of any of it.

    • Lori Pearson

So glad you and your daughter are enjoying watching WCTH together! The actress who played Kat Montgomery was busy doing other shows and did not return after season 1. Since you are on season 4, keep watching and you just might see more of Elizabeth’s family. 😉

I am a huge fan of when calls the heart. I am sad that Jack Thornton/ Daniel Lessing dies. But it is extremely touching that Erin Krakow/Elizabeth Thornton is so strong in this sad time and with a baby non the less.

I just want to say to Hallmark and the entire cast and crew for “When Calls The Heart” THANK YOU for your AMAZING HEART WARMING SHOW EVER!
I just finished watching season 5 on Netflix and I’m very heartbroken with Jack Thornton (Daniel Lissing) departure. His character will be truly missed. It is amazing how Elizabeth’s and Jack’s love story, has touched me in a very personal sentimental way… when you are heartbroken and see such characters, it makes you feel HOPE and I’ve quoted once or twice before, “I won’t give up! Perhaps, there is a Jack Thornton our there for me!”

I can’t wait to see Daniel Lissing in future Hallmark projects!

    SEASON 6 can’t wait!!!! 😍

Many blessings to all the Hearties

  • I was looking for Season 5 online, since Netflix didn’t have it, and then I see something like “When Calls the Heart Season 5, Jack dies” Immediately I began to cry!
I so wanted to see it! But I can’t shake the sadness and disappointment. I wish I had not seen the end before I saw all the season 5 episodes………I am seriously mourning his death! And I can’t even think about poor Elizabeth!!! Why? why?
    sniff, sniff

Rachel- I’m so sorry you saw that “spoiler” before you were able to see the season 5 episodes I hope you will still watch season 5 as I relly enjoyed so many of the episodes. It is a very emotional and so well-written and well-acted season, in my opinion. Please be aware that the only options for watching season 5 now are:
-the DVDs that are available for purchase
-streaming the episodes from Amazon, iTunes, or Google
-finding a Heartie friend who has the episodes DVRed and is willing to share 😉😊
Note that any free online streaming or You Tube videos of season 5 are illegal copies.
Season 5 will probably be available from Netflix later this year or early in 2019.
If you haven’t heard, Lori Loughlin (Abigail), Erin Krakow (Elizabeth), Daniel Lissing (Jack), and exec producer Brian Bird did a Facebook Live for Hearties right after the season 5 finale to explain the events. It was Daniel Lissing’s decision not to renew his contract that prompted the tough decision for Jack to die. You can watch the Facebook Live video here: http://www.hallmarkchannel.com/when-calls-the-heart
      Thanks for visiting this site!

The show is great and I’m all up to current day. I love the addition of the new family and preacher this year. I’d actually like to see more POC and indigenous come to live in town. In place of Lori L coming back I’d like to see one of them buy the store from her and show the difficulties of fitting in.

  • does anyone know when season 5 will come out complete set to buy

  • kim

Are there any lunches with Erin Krakow out there?

  • Caitie

Does anyone know who composed the theme music for the intro and what it is called?

    • Lori Pearson

John Sereda is the composer. Check out his website for audio and video clips with the music he’s composed for WCTH and for other TV shows & movies. Here’s the link to his website: http://www.johnsereda.com
